We are continuing to get lots of husky cherry tomatoes and they are sweet and delicious! Each morning when I take Joni out, I pick a few more. Even the volunteer tomato plant is producing, and I think they are the sungold tomatoes I had in my garden last year. They are a beautiful yellow color and very sweet. Additionally, another sungold tomato plant has popped up right on the fence with my neighbors, so now we can both enjoy.

Unfortunately, the strawberries don't seem like they're going to be fruitful, which is disappointing since they're supposed to do really well in straw bales. We had a few small ones growing, but they stayed pretty small and seemed to dry out and die off. But, the potatoes are growing large leafy greens. I've never grown potatoes in a straw bale before, but supposedly we just break the bales apart at the end of the season and they will be in there. I'm feeling doubtful, but maybe the leafy greens are a good sign!

Another round of peppers are growing as well. There are lots of jalapeños, shishito peppers, banana peppers, and a few poblanos getting bigger. It's hard to wait for them to grow larger before picking them! Last weekend, we ended up picking just a few banana peppers to make some more ají with pizza, and it was definitely worth it. We made our own pizza recently with fresh basil and oregano from the garden, and it was so tasty. I'm loving having all of the fresh ingredients in my backyard.

There are lots more San Marzano tomatoes waiting to turn red, and I'm planning to make more tomato sauces for pasta with them. The slow cooker tomato sauces have been one of my favorite sauces I've made, and they are perfect for it. In contrast, the big boy tomatoes are super juicy and amazing for eating fresh with bread. Hopefully we will get a few more of those too!
