This week I had a special helper for my garden. Miranda and Norbert came to visit for a long weekend and we had a blast. Norbert loves water and playing with the hose, so we had him help water the plants. However, It didn't take long before he decided it was more fun to water us instead of the garden!
We spent a good amount of time playing outside and going on walks since there isn't much else to do during a quarantine. But actually, it turned out really great because we got to spend lots of quality time together. I wish we lived closer and that it wasn't so challenging to travel right now. I love spending time with these two and I wish it could be as frequent as it used to be. We tried to make the most of our time and I think the majority was spent laughing!
The garden is continuing to grow lots of vegetables, and I'm hoping we'll be able to harvest some of the peppers in the next week couple of weeks. I went back to Gethsemane to get some cages for the pepper plants since they're getting much taller and starting to tip, and they didn't have any small cages left. However, a helpful employee suggested using bamboo poles instead, and I am very happy with the result! The bamboo poles are actually cheaper and I like the aesthetic of them much better.
The zucchini squash plant is also out of control! Many of the leaves are bigger than my head, but I'm still not seeing any actual squash growing, so I'm pretty certain I'll have to try to pollinate them myself soon. It's almost time to fertilize again too, and I'm hoping that will give everything a boost because the anticipation of getting to make meals with my own veggies is growing!
